In the time between the arrival and the current age, few groups of people splintered off from our communities, preferring the wilds and their dangers to the safety of the pillars. Once they left the collective conscience, they were forgotten. We had greater worries and fears to focus on. Eventually, these people resurfaced, but not as the people we knew. Since they removed themselves from society, much is unknown of their development. There seemed to be two distinct groups, traders and warriors.

It was the traders that presented themselves first. It was a strange sight to behold, leading domesticated wildlife by reign. They seemed to be solitary travelers, having no guard. We could not comprehend. No defense. The traders were unique, each having their own set of wares from different communities, different directions. No matter the trader, they are all well-traveled and knowledgeable in the ways of flora, fauna, wildlife, and the secrets of the Ironlands.

While they are present in a community, it is predictably a buzz with energy. Travelers are always a rare occasion, cause for both celebration and dread. The mystery around them is always cause for curiously and concern. What do they bring? Much is unknown. One thing in certain, their offerings are great, but at what cost? Constant debate among leadership within communities on this issue happens every time a trader is seen on the horizon. There has yet to be a consensus. This debate has led communities to adopt a name for them. Information Brokers. A name the traders were happy to adopt.

Information brokers provide wares and unique objects from all corners of the Ironlands, but tangible objects are not their primary offerings. Information is. It usually comes at a high price. The price need not be coin. It may be anything the broker considers valuable. Coin. Wares. Information. Secrets. All are trade worthy. As every community is isolated from each other, information is at a premium and the information brokers are aware of this, often extorting leadership for the desired information.

Information brokers are one of the two splinter groups that prefer the wilds over community. The other group took the name of Warden’s. Both groups are useful, needed, and dangerous in their own rights.
